Remembering Ember
Ember was a mare of silken white beauty and quiet presence. Her luminous coat and large, expressive eyes reflected the gentleness and depth of her spirit. She carried herself with calm assurance, meeting the world with unwavering sweetness and curiosity.
When Ember came to me in late 2021, I immediately saw her potential. I didn’t yet know if she would ever carry a foal, but what she gave to Day Arabians would shape the future of the program.
Ember became the true foundation of the modern-day Day Arabians breeding program, the first mare to conceive and carry a foal here.
In 2023, she delivered Annie, Promise Me Platinum, a beautiful grey filly who would soon carry her mother’s legacy forward. Two years later, Ember gave me a colt, Kkairo DA, but her life was tragically lost during his delivery.
When Ember passed in March, and my mom just two months later, I wasn’t sure I would ever find the strength to step into a show ring again. Then came the call from the trainer that Annie was ready.
At our first Regional together, one of the largest regionals of the year, Annie entered the arena and lit it up, earning the title of Regional Champion. But the true victory was running beside her, carrying both Ember’s spirit and my mom’s memory into that ring.
Ember’s legacy lives on through Annie and Kkairo — the beginning of the future she helped make possible.
